This week, I want to talk about one of my newer services – Finance Support.
I say ‘newer’, but it’s been part of my work for some time – I just haven’t labelled it until now.
What does Finance Support mean?
In short, I take day-to-day finance tasks off your plate, so they don’t get pushed to the bottom of the list.
I’m not an accountant (and don’t pretend to be), but I can act as the go-between, keeping things organised, up to date, and making sure your accountant gets exactly what they need, when they need it.
What I can help with:
Here’s a rundown of what I currently do for clients – trades and small businesses who don’t want to spend their evenings buried in spreadsheets:
Budget Tracking & Reporting
I’ll track your income and spending as it happens, so you’ve always got a clear view of how things are going, complete with graphics, profit/loss summaries and simple reports to show the bigger picture.
VAT
I’ll keep track of your VAT across the quarter, prep the spreadsheets and invoices your accountant needs, and help move the right amount into a separate account, ready for when the bill lands.
Tax
Same goes for tax. I’ll track it through the year, pull the figures together, and make sure it’s all ready for your accountant. I can also help set aside the right amount so there are no surprises.
CIS
I’ll review contractor and staff invoices to check payments are correct, and get everything organised for your accountant. I can also move the right amounts into a separate account for submission.
Customer Payments
Need help keeping track of who’s paid and who hasn’t? I’ll monitor deposits, balances, and follow up on late payments where needed.
Supplier Invoices
I’ll keep tabs on what’s due, pay suppliers on time, and keep an eye on credit accounts so nothing gets missed.
HMRC Payments
Whether it’s VAT, tax or CIS – I can make payments to HMRC on your behalf, so you never miss a deadline.
A few other bits I do:
- Bank reconciliation – Matching your records to your statements and flagging anything off.
- Expense management – Keeping receipts in check and tracking spending properly.
- Tracking hours for staff & contractors – So everyone gets paid correctly.
- Invoice checks – Making sure what’s billed matches what’s been done.
- Chasing receipts – So you’re not scrambling at year-end.
Flexible support that works for you
Some clients give me access to their online banking, others prefer to share card details, and some just want me to prep everything so they can make the payments themselves. It’s entirely up to you.
