Why I Only Work With a Few Clients at a Time

In a world full of “scale fast” advice and inboxes full of offers that promise the moon, I’ve chosen a different route: keeping things small and manageable.

Not because I don’t like being busy. (I do – especially if it involves ticking things off a list and having a strong cup of tea at the ready.)
But because small means better – for me, and for the people I support.

Less juggling, more doing

When you’re juggling too many clients, things get dropped. Emails are missed. Deadlines get wobbly. And no one wants to be halfway through a quote only to realise the wrong template’s been used and it’s for someone called Barbara. (Apologies, Barbara.)

By working with fewer clients at a time, I can actually do the work properly. That means accurate quotes, invoices that make sense, and admin that runs in the background without a fuss.

You’re not just another name on the list

With a smaller client base, I actually know who’s who. Your dog’s name? Probably know it. The postcode of your last job? Burned into my brain. Your preferred invoice format? Already done.

It means replies don’t take a week. It means you’re not repeating yourself three times. It means you’ve got someone who pays attention, so you don’t have to.

No mystery disappearing act

Some service providers are here one week, then gone the next. I’m not one of them. Keeping my workload realistic means I stay reliable. No burnout. No last-minute reschedules. No overpromising. Just steady support you can count on, week in, week out.

Quality over chaos

The truth is, too many plates spinning at once might look impressive, but it only takes one wobble for the whole lot to hit the floor. I’d rather give my full focus to a handful of clients than stretch myself thin and end up stressed, scatterbrained, or worse , sending invoices to the wrong person (again, sorry Barbara).
