From Banking to Backing Small Businesses

 

I’d spent over twenty years working in financial services, setting up systems, building workflows, and dealing with the kind of detail-heavy tasks most people avoid.

I’ve worked in big banks, small firms, as part of a team and flying solo. I’ve created customer databases from scratch, sorted out messy processes, and kept things running smoothly behind the scenes.

I was in the process of changing jobs, but that fell through, and I realised something: I didn’t want to go back to banking. I wanted to do something that felt more real.

Around that time, a roofer I knew needed help with their admin, website and social media. I stepped in, loved it, and realised there was a real need for the kind of support I could offer.

 

That was the start of Clare H Virtual Assistance.

What I Do (and Why I Do It)

 

At first, I focused on writing and helping small businesses get noticed online.

But it quickly became clear that what people needed more than anything was someone they could trust to take the pressure off, especially trades like plumbers, electricians, decorators and builders, as well as other small business owners who were trying to keep everything going on their own.

I take care of that.

I’m the person behind the scenes keeping everything ticking over, answering customer messages, sorting quotes and invoices, following up on jobs, keeping your calendar up to date, tidying up your online filing system, and getting all the admin out of your way so you can finish work without logging on for a second shift at your computer.

I’m not trying to be a massive company. I keep things small on purpose so I can give each client the time and care their business deserves. 

When I work with you, it’s personal. I become part of the team.

My clients know their business is in safe hands.

If I say I’ll do it, I will. If something’s outside my skillset, I’ll be honest, but I’m not afraid to learn if it’ll help you.

I don’t overcomplicate things. I just get shit done.

Who I Work With

 

Most of my clients are in the trades or run small service-based businesses. They’re not glued to a screen all day and they’re not looking for corporate fluff. They’re self-employed, wearing all the hats, and want someone reliable to get the day-to-day jobs done without the faff.

They come to me because they’re drowning in the little tasks. They stay because they stop worrying about it. That headspace means more time for actual paid work, or just a proper evening off.

 

 

Here’s What You’re Really Getting

 

This isn’t a churn-and-burn service.

I keep my client list short on purpose. I want the ones I do have to feel like they’ve got a real right hand. I get to know their businesses. I’m on hand. I care.

I’m super organised, quick to spot a better way of doing things, and a bit of a whiz at time management. I’m also a great listener, because the more I understand about your business, the better support I can give.

I also don’t believe in charging silly prices. As a small business myself, I get it, you need to make every penny count. The time I save you more than pays for itself, and then some.

We’re all smaller businesses trying to make it work, and I believe in keeping things fair and affordable for everyone.

Looking Ahead

 

Right now, I’m happy with where I’m at: small, solid, and straightforward. I’m always picking up new things, whether it’s WordPress, software, or getting my head around more finance stuff.

I want to be a one-stop shop for my clients, so I’d love to learn more about tax, VAT, and all the financial bits that business owners often struggle with.

This business gave me a fresh start. Now, I use it to help other people find a bit of breathing space in theirs.
